World from a different angle

Pakistan, err, Palestine

This is a small excerpt from Mohammad Omar's article, Coming to America, published in Washington Report magazine, March issue. It's a very good article by the way...

...My Officer seemed confused. "What kind of passport is this?" he asked, waving it before me.

"Palestinian," I answered.

It seemd that Palestinian passport simply did not compute! More gruffly, he asked again, "What passport is it?"

When I repeated my answer, his face lit up and he responded affirmativel, "Oh! A pakistani passport!"

At that point I was ready to be Pakistani if it meant I could complete the exam! I took a deep breath, wondering, "Is this guy for real?" But I quietly told myself, "Patience, Mohammad. Perhaps he's color blind and cannot read green."

hahaha..that sucks alot.i know how it feels when the officers get crazy over these documentation stuffs.its so annoying.
when i was younger i was issued an underage passport(identification CErtificate)-which is not known in most country.So..i've to spend about 30 minutes explaining what that peice of paper is to the officer before the process of documentation actually begins..:S..

There are problems everywhere about passports and nationalities, once i was going with my friends to Aqaba and they all knew that I was syrian but they didn't know that I had the Jordanian passport, so at the borders the officer asked if there is any one syrian or iraqi they shall step out of the bus!!!! Alla satar, kan 3li2na bi alf so2al!!
