World from a different angle

A letter from Lebanon

This was written by a member of LFPM, help him spread it to the world...

Dear ...all

I am a Lebanese civilian attacked by the state of Israel. I am only one between many awake at 4:30 AM wondering if we will make it through the night, wondering if our families and friends will still be there to greet us in the morning.

I can hear the Israeli warplanes destroying my country and murdering my people. Today more than 50 Lebanese civilians have been murdered!

I beg you to show the world the mutilated bodies of the Lebanese Children!!

I beg you to show the world the body of a child cut in 3!!

If Hizbullah is considered as a terrorist Organization for targeting civilians then what is Israel??

Stop Discrimination!!

Stop The U.S Veto's in support of Israeli Agression!!

Is that the Democracy the U.S. calls for?? Is murder of civilians what the U.S. calls for in Lebanon? Help us stop the Israeli Army from murdering more Lebanese civilians!! Stop crimes against Humanity before calling for Human Rights!! Or whose Human Rights are those??

Are we not civilians being murdered by Israel's lethal army!!? Stop the state of Israel from murdering further civilians!! Show the world what Israel is doing!!Show the mutilated families!!Show the atrocities and denounce the Hypocrisy!! Show the Israeli contribution to the "so called" peace process!!

Isn't that your role??

Signed by: A Lebanese Civilian subject to Israeli Agression

it´s unbelievable what i see of both sides. i hope israel and the hisbolla uses their hearts and brains and stop this terror of both sides. it makes me angry to hear and see the lies of the people, who make this. i did read a interview with one of the leaders of the hisbollah and he was very crazy. the same on the other side. all people over the world are brothers and sisters and those people are working with hate and fear of their people....

Hezbollah has no heart but it IS using it's brain. This is why they INTENTIONALLY place their fighters next to civilians. Hezbollahs' logic is that it will either deter the other side from hitting them, or if they do it will give them PR pictures that they can paint the other side with.

Hezbollah attacked Israel with support from Syria and Iran from a place it should not have been in (UN resolution). Hezbollah is responsible for these deaths.

The Lebanese need the world's support in kicking Hezbollah, Syria, and Iran OUT.

Tobi, I understand what you fell, but you know here in lebanon, Palestine and the Arab world it is different... it's like Israel and America want us to choose between 2 basic things: happiness and freedom. In the Arab world most of us chose happiness: YOU WANT TO LIVE HAPPY, SHUT UP! However, what you see in occupied Palestine and in Lebanon, is the price of freedom!

This is all Hizbollah's fault. They shot rockets into Israel and attacked Israeli soldiers.

Lebanon needs to rid itself of Hizbollah, then Lebanon and Israel can live in peace.

When the Shiites love their children more than they hate Israel, we may finally have peace.

If you care so much about two dirty
f**g soldiers, just exchange them with another prisoners, army should fight armed people and not civilians.

The idea of kicking out hizollah is stupid, because they are the citizen of lebanon and 30% of lebanese are with them.
Lebanon is the only democratic arabic country, and that's there choice.

I don't like personally the Iranian link, and the fundamentalism of this group, otherwise they are good citizen.

Why the israeli don't go back from where they came and that will be the solution to the problem.
Abed. Hamdan

Israel is burning the country, claiming that they will end Hezbollah...this is stupid..and that's why I think they're losing the battle of "eliminating Hezbollah"..
Berendor from Germany
July, 22, 2006 11:46 AM
First: I feel empathy with you and every civilian wether it is an Isreali, a Palestinian or a Lebanese.

And second:

There are two sides of Hezbollah:

According to German media reports about Hezbollah they don't acknowledge the state of Israel. It's their target to destroy this (in their eyes) illegal state. And this is a crime! They should've given up that aim.

Otherwise they help and support the poorest members of the lebanese society and they will help to build up the destroyed houses once there's peace again. They are good and loyal citizens to their fellow countrymen.

As Abed. said: Israel is stupid of thinking that they can eliminate Hezbollah. As long as they continue to kill civilians instead of Hezbollah soldiers they will support Hezbollah or other groups. From day to day anger is rising again in those suburbs... It's a deadly irony. Those who are now children, those who have lost a brother, mother or father in this unholy war will sooner or later take their revenge.
And this is Israels fault. It is the fault of their politics. I blame Israel for doing this! I am afraid that the Middle-East will never find peace and I feel sorry for the civilians on both sides.

Once Germans and Frenchs hated each other, killed each other over many centuries. But finally, and yes I am proud to be a member of such a friendship, they found peace and live peaceful together. This should be an example for your countries even though it might yet not be possible.

When I see, what's going on in the middle east, my heart is aching. Everday we hear here in Germany about killed civilians and this makes me sad. When I see what happend (two Israeli soldiers kidnapped)... and what was the reaction? Kill old men, kill children, kill women, and this by a state whos Primeminister says: we are the good and human. Is this what humanity is? Killing civilian? I'm a German, and if I say this jewish state named Israel is a state full of murders like Germany in 1930-1945, then they punish me. But this is it... We have our history our grands, where killers and we have learnd. But now, the Israelis are the new killers in the world, first egypt, then the Palestinian and now the Libanes, with a cause, whish is the stupids of all. They kill many Libanes because a few have kidnapped two Israeli soldiers. Once Hitler killed many jews because he had problems with a few. See the parrallels and start thinking.... I'm not proud of the history of my country. The mistakes in the 1930-1945 are unforgetable. But now Israel makes the same mistakes...

How come I missed your blog till now??? I'll stop by frequently from now on ..
Ahab and Terese ... you need a SERIOUS attitude-adjustment it seems to me! Once you have ONE fly in a room .. do you invide a herd of elefants to catch it - and so nearby ruin the whole house including everything around? NOT that I compare the two kidnapped soldiers with a fly - that NOBODY even THINKS of saying that - but that's about the relation of what's going on!
About Hamas and Hizbullah ...
I have my own problems with extremist groups, do not be mistaken - but one has to be HONEST and OBJECTIVE: if you have for example children and NO means to sustain them, give them education, provide kindergarden, support you and your family - would you NOT elect the one who helped you in your misery?? SURE you would, EVERY sane person would ... and that is exactly the reason why Hamas as well as Hizbullah are THAT popular! What comes in adddition is the fact that with the ongoing atrocities, MANY MORE people side with Hizbullah, support them - as they have ONE COMMON enemy - Israel! Were Israel smart - it would ALWAYS consider this human aspect ... but they think with destruction and fear they can win! WRONG ... this way you may well get quiet for a while ... but NEVER PEACE!! ! Problems are solved at the roundtable .. and NOT at a battlefield!! If I could save the life of ONE person (I'm refering to Olmert) - I'd be ready to talk even with my worst enemy!! It is his utter arrogance which prevents him from doing that! THAT approach shows REAL strength ... MORAL strength - not war, genocide and atrocities which should LONG belong to the past!
They tell people to flee the south but destroyds ALL exit-ways ... how the hell should they get out?? FLY? I have dear friends there, trapped, with a 5-year old and an 8-months old baby and am worried SICK! While talking with them this morning, I heard a MAJOR BOOM .. and was told, it was a missile coming down not far from their home

I think we all agree that Israel's response was unproporational... And it indicates that Israel was waiting for any reason whatsoever to justify a military action, a war against not only Hizbullah, but Lebanon as a whole!

Mazen: About hizbullah fundementalism, well if you mean that they are sheits, I have to mention that what Hassan Nasrullah said, that Hizbullah is fighting not only for their fellow sheits, but for Lebanon and Palestine, and they are fighting side by side with Sunnis, so I think Hizbullah individuals have their own beliefs, but they are good citizens and true to their word, they are not racists

Berendor: The case of Germany and France is way different from Israel and the Arabs... Your conflict was political, while the conflict here is based on ideologies and beliefs! It can't be changed and no one will change his mind about accepting the other and make any concessions... Israel believe they have the right to occupy Palestine as their promised land, and to demolish the Muslim and Chrisitians holy places there, no one with a bit of dignity with agree to such a thing! Israel sees prosperity in war, not in peace, and they are the ones who asked for it! Hizbullah kidnapped two soldiers to negotiate for their prisoners who are being tortures in the Israeli jails! This is a humane issue, prisoners are people two, and someone's gotta do something to retrieve them form the Israeli jails...

Immi: I raise my hat for you! Thank you so much for your comment :)

Karin: Israeli arrognace is what giot them into this war, they think themselves invencible! And now they are paying for it... As for Hamas and Hizbullah, you think Israel is ready to negotiate with them in the first place? Israel was so happy when Hamas was elected, because they had a new pretext: we won't negotiate with "terrorists"... And I don't think Hamas and Hizbullah are extremist groups, not at all... Those people are fighting for a ju

Ola - I know, that's what I meant! I do know their arrogance, believe me ...
I am fully aware as well that Israel was never ready to negotiate with either Hamas nor Hizbullah and the captured soldiers were ultimately only a pretence for the attacks.

It's good to read comments of both "Karin" & "Ola", because this enhances my English Languages :D

Hamas & Hezbolllah are defending our children in Palestine and Lebanon. When Israel try to invade any Palestinian Village, Hamas Fighters do their best, with their elimintary rifles and home-made rockets. Yes, thet die trying to prevent the Israeli tanks to enter the village of the camp...They stand by their bodies when they have nothing else to fight with...

Israeli actions won't stop the legal resistants..the more Israel Kill, the more the resistants will fight.

So there is another chapter added to this long history of folly...and some more lifes of innocents will be wasted again on both sides. I think the world is sick of this conflict and very likely, most people on both sides are tired of it as well.

I don't understand the Arab side: Face it, you can't eredicate Israel from the map... not in the next decade, not in the next century. So armed conflicts don't help you nor do they improve your position in negociations. What they do however, is destabilize the entire region economically and push autocratic systems. Is that worth it or what you really want in the long run?

And I don't understand the Israeli side: You can't really want to live in a war-like situation with all your neighbouring states forever, building settlements in occupied territories or closing borders for palestine labourers.

And there is no 'Good' or 'Bad' side... Both factions have made errors over the last decades, violated international law and spilt innocent blood. You can't go on blaming each other as to who did more injustice.... it's just not measurable!

In this conflict, no side can ever win anything by force and besides: Throwing bombs on civilians is in NO way justified... be it by any crazy Arab militia or the Israeli army.

I wish, the citizens on both sides would finally stand up against their extremists... but obviously, this is not going to happen in the near future.

As long as pride and prejudice prevail over reason and intelligence, the world will have to watch the deaths of innocents on both sides.

Hello,

My grandfather came from Lebanon/Syria region and I cry every day. I pray, just as the prophets of the Bible. God, when will you answer our prayer. My God, I also know that the prophets crys were answered.

As simple as it sounds, know that there are many, many of us in the US and around the world, who are praying, as well as advocating for the children. Oh, my, it's a sad time that the Israeli's cannot admit one ounce of fault for their illegal occupation and their own terrorists acts.

But, I do believe that more people worldwide are beginning to view Israel as the oppressor. The pure "lambs" of the Middle East are neither pure nor lambs. They will reap what they sow.

Please know we do hear you, we do feel the pain, and we are working with others to bring about a change.

May God be with you.

Salaam,

C.J.

Abed - you are refering to people who do have some decency and morals - not to people who lost even the last iota of each!

Thط·آ·ط¢آ£ط·آ¢ط¢آ©rط·آ·ط¢آ£ط·آ - whoever you are ... as you audaciously metion Dresden (I am German too, a patriotic German even, should that interest you), I want to FIRST OF ALL say: SHAME ON YOU!! "When WE dealt with them"?? Who is "WE"? You're certainly coward enough not to tell ... that figures.
Ok - a word to Dresden so that EVERYBODY here is in the picture .. when Dresden was bombed just before the end of the war, there were ONLY, and I emphazise ONLY women, children and old people there - there was no soldier anywhere NEAR Dresden even - and THAT WAS WELL KNOWN to the allies! THEY were bombed - NOT soldiers! That's a historical fact - should you not believe it, what I blindly assume - grab a history-book, lock yourself in a room and educate yourself!

Did you forget that ISRAEL kidnapped a doctor and his brother BEFORE Hizbullah did the same to the two soldiers? Did you miss that too? I'm starting to get disappointed ...!

Immi is free to voice her opinion like all of us - regardless if you like it or now! Maybe we should teach YOU what the word democracy means?

You can spare your "non sequitur", it is unnecessary as Guido was talking in general about the Lebanon!!

And about Abed - how can you dare to blindly judge someone without knowing him?? Don't you feel yourself a bit stupid to do that? Abed is the LAST to wish someone to be killed and, contrary to you, a most decent man with high ethical and moral values! The way you express yourself, shows me that you are WAY BELOW his niveau as an educated individual would by no means use the inappropriate language you did! why did Hisbolla not choose to build bomb shelters for the civilians knowing that if they launch attacks from civilian areas they would come under attacck.

They can build bunkers to store weapoms but seem to use the deaths of the civilians to gain support against Israel.

As a half Arab /half Jew I consider myself to be able to talk from both sides of the fence.

I consider myself an Israeli & want to inform the Arab & Non Jewish world that Israel is the only place where Jews & Arabs live free, yes there are some problems but understandable ones relating to outside agression, but in the main we are all OK together.

The biggest problem facing peace is the Arab/Muslim contstant ranting about Arab rights to return to Palestine omiting any refrence to the Jews expelled by Arab countries.

Over 1,000,000 Jews were ethnic cleansed from the Arab world and were dispossesed of the homes & Land.

Today these people represent 4,000,000 people living mostly in Israel, they are not in camps but fully intigrated citizens but their plight goes unheard by the enemies of the Jews.

If the Arab world realy cared for the Palestinian Arabs rotting in camps throught the Muslim world then all they needed to do was absorb them like Israel did with it's people, instead of keeping them as pawns to continue a conflict which based on lies and suffering.

Israel is only 1% of the middle East, the Arabs have 22 states, so why is it so abhorent for the Arab/Muslim world that a tiny Jewish state can not be tollorated to live in peace.

The Jews are part of the area & have as much rights as anyone, it even says this in the Holy Quoran.

This is to Therese! I knew that was you distorting your name. You are the only hateful person that visits. Do you have nothing better to do? No one else to talk to? Maybe it is your attitude. Everyones' ancestors were wronged by someone, get over it. We cannot judge a people by a person's actions. My great uncle was killed in Vietnam. I do not hate Vietnamese. My uncle killed by a black man. I do not hate blacks. My aunt and 2 friends were killed 9-11. I do not hate Arabs. I actually married one, had 2 kids. Now that's forgiveness. He's Iraqi. Now I have a brother and cousin that have been deployed for 1 year to Iraq in the army. They fight against Arabs every day. They have been injured by Arabs and still when one needs help, they are there lending a hand. That's what people with faith in God do. And Allah is God, the same God, there's only 1. English call him God, Arabs- Allah, Spanish- Dios, all languages have a different name, but don't be confused. There is only one creator. He made you, me, Karin, Ola,... How can you so hate your brothers & sisters? We all came from the 1st 2 people, Adam and Eve. So if you trace the family tree back far enough you will find Germans and Arabs. It's inevitable. I don't know what your faith is, but you need to study it and pray for forgiveness because God does not promote HATE. I wonder if you have ever really known a German or Arab. They are the same. People, humans. We all laugh, cry, scream, and bleed red. Flesh and blood. If you strip the name and skin you will never know where they come from. I wonder then if you would still Hate.

You know what?, this is pathetic. After reading all comments, I get the bottom of page and couldn't even remember what we were commenting on. The comments are so hateful and ignorant that you end up getting lost in the crap. Let us not forget the people, innocent civilians that are being massacred. REMEMBER?! Let's not get lost in the ignorance. Rather discuss our feelings on this subject, not hate and not 100's of years ago. Today: Israel and Lebanon, the crisis that is happening. Let's talk about what we, as good people, can do to stop this, because our voices can make a difference.
