World from a different angle

In patriarcal societies...

This is a drawing was done by a friend of mine in a moment of rage, i's about the status of women in the Arab societies, or in any patriarcla societies... I loved it and I think it's very expressive.

The drawing depicts a melting extinguished candle that looks like a woman with her hands tied to her back... She said that it still needs some modifications, but I loved it this way and insisted on taking it to blog it just as it is...

It says:

لبست الخاتم بإيدي و إيدي حيل حزنانة

Looks like it´s a line from a song or something, you know it represents women who are forcibly married...

This specific issue gets on my last nerve knowing that we still have women suffering, abused and treated like maids as Rana said.

This matter means a lot to me, that's why I searched a while ago and found out that it's not only about arab girls, it doesn't only happen in our society.
Women are subjected to domestic voilence and abuse all around the world.
According to statistics:
Every 9 seconds in the United States a woman is assaulted and beaten, 4,000,000 women a year are assaulted by their partners,Every day, 4 women are murdered by boyfriends or husbands, etc..etc..

You are right Nana, what makes it even worse in many societies including our own is that abused women won't say a word... they prefer remaining silent over facing the social stigma of divorce or the other possible repercussions

Women remain silent for many reasons.

Besides, there's something called Cycle of Voilence. I've never heard about such a thing b4 making this search.
Anyway, u can read more about this <A HREF="http://www.mahjoob.com/en/forums/showthread.php?t=167969">here</A>;.
